Our Mode of Communication

6/7/12

I was thinking the other day about how seldom our phones ring anymore. I was about the think that I got a lot more work done in lieu of the never-ending chatter. Then I realized that I spend more time answering my e-mails than I ever did bantering on the phone. Oh, how times are changing. The nicest part of switching from phone to e-mail is that I have an excellent record now of what was said and by whom. I had a television rep in D.C. once who made notes of every time we spoke – in person or on the phone. He could tell me the last time we spoke, at what time, and what we discussed. I wouldn’t have been surprised if he could quote me verbatim. So, what’s the main difference between communicating with my reps by e-mail versus phone? Now, in order to communicate, I need to put my glasses on.
