Today, my granddaughter, Kayla, and I went to a new restaurant that has opened in our little town. I asked our waitress who the new owner was, and she told me a story about Terri, who has worked in the restaurant field since she was 16. This venture was her dream. The building has housed other restaurants in the past, but the only one that ever made a go of it catered to the motorcycle (biker) crowd. This new restaurant has a very pricey menu, small drink cups (at $2.25 apiece), “limited selection” the day we were there due to a mechanical breakdown of the walk-in box. Our burgers were like shoe leather, so dry, you needed to keep asking for refills of soda in the tiny cups, but the waitress was too busy having much fun at the bar. The folks at the bar were loud (obviously not concerned with the patrons (just us) who were there for lunch. Their cussing was offensive and obnoxious. I wrote the owner a “love letter” on the back of my check, explaining all of the above. I wonder how many months they’ll be in business. I could probably count the months on one hand. Or, maybe Terri will read my comments and make some badly needed changes.
