I Want My Boss’ Job

I’ve been a buyer for twelve years now at the same agency. The Media Director is about to retire, and I really want to move up into her position. What should I do? First, talk to your boss and ask her to recommend you for the position. Secondly, talk to the President and COB of the agency and let them know you are interested in bettering your career. Let them know that you have strived to be the best and will not let them down if they give you a chance at this job. Thirdly, put out feelers to find out if anyone else is interested in the position so you know what your competition, if any, is. Then, go for it!
