Account Executives who rush into the Media Department on a Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. asking for a Media Plan for one of the agency’s clients by next Wednesday should be tarred and feathered. It takes at least a month to put a truly well-thought out media plan together. To have to come up with one in three days means much will be overlooked, because there is not time to do the job right. Educate agency A.E.s to plan ahead. Each A.E. knows when their client’s fiscal years are. Teach agency A.E.s to be ready for that new Media Plan at least 30 days in advance of when it’s due.
